Presentation of the event The routes take us next to old water mills, to tombs excavated in the rock, to a suspension bridge with an athlete’s statue, in homage to everyone who passes by. The rural paths rich in local experiences, the smugglers’ paths through fits and starts, cross the border and make this adventure the best excuse to enjoy the wide landscapes, doing what we love most: running through the hills among oaks, chestnut trees, pine trees, eucalyptus, broom… The trails are fast, with a quality surface and alternating unevenness, having been defined not only for recreational and leisure purposes, but also with a view to obtaining results in competition, taking into account the various motivations that drive the participants. Trail da Raia aims to be a sports event in nature in which everyone can participate regardless of their physical condition
This race is egigent and requires good physical preparation, mainly due to the distance to be traveld, however the altimetry is reasonable and the trails are generally fast, allowing you to enjoy a unique route through Portuguese and Spanish lands. After the visit to the Spanish village of Navasfrias, heading the Sierra de Gata, the region of Extremadura then entering the protected area of the Serra da Malcata in the Serra das Mesas.
